the artist
A native Kentuckian, Deanna picked up a pencil and paint brush when she was two years old. She has called Virginia home since the mid-eighties. In May of 2001, Deanna launched her business "Pet Portraits by Deanna" and started drawing and painting custom pet portraits, in both pencil on paper and oil on canvas. Deanna serves clients working in both mediums throughout the United States and Canada.
the charities
As of December 2009 Deanna has raised $16,570 by donating her pet portraits at auctions to benefit both human & animal charities around the country since September, 2001.
the talk show host
In addition to her artwork Deanna also produced and hosted her own TV talk show "Capital Pets" in May of 2005. The show is currently on hiatus.The first 41 episodes showcased a myriad of pet related issues, animal law and related policies, animal welfare, spay and neuter education, animal rescue and dozens of pet related charities. Each show is an in depth look at the way animals touch our lives and are as varied as the most posh of doggie bakeries to the dedicated volunteers and their pets visiting the elderly in nursing homes with a friendly smile and the wag of a tail.
