A native Kentuckian, Deanna has been a resident of the D.C. Metro area since the mid-eighties. In May of 2001, Deanna launched her business "Pet Portraits by Deanna" and started drawing and painting custom pet portraits, in both pencil on paper and oil on canvas. Working exclusively from her studio in northern Virginia, Deanna serves clients working in all mediums throughout the United States.

In addition to her artwork Deanna is also the producer and host of her own TV talk show. Her involvement and caring about the local pet community spawned the launch of "Capital Pets" in May of 2005. The talk show currently airs weekly in northern Virginia and Montgomery County, Maryland to over 500,000 homes.
On May 22, 2007 the artist incorporated "Capital Pets" as Capital Pets, Inc., a 501(C)(3) non-profit entity with the goal of taking on donations to support the production and distrubution of the show and expand its reach to over 5.5 million homes throughout the Greater Baltimore, Washington, D.C. Metro area, Richmond, Virginia and nation-wide via Dish Network and Direct TV satellite broadcasting. Her television talk-show showcases a myriad of pet related issues, animal law and related policies, animal welfare, spay and neuter education, animal rescue and pet related charities. Each show is an indepth look at the way animals touch our lives and are as varied as the most posh of doggie bakerys to the dedicated volunteers and their pets visiting the elderly in nursing homes with a friendly smile and the wag of a tail.
